Our team worked hard to plan a successful trivia night event with over 30 attendees. The trivia questions were closely related to global poverty, and many of the answers surprised the attendees. Did you know that training a guide dog costs around $30,000 - $60,000? That's a hefty price and not the most effective way to spend your money if you are trying to do good for the visually impaired. However, did you know that with only $1 you could help prevent blindness in the first place? Many children in impoverished regions are deficient in vitamin A, leading to blindness and eventually, a lower life span. One for the World partners with the Hellen Keller International's Vitamin A Supplementation Program to reduce Vitamin A deficiency, so by joining us, you could help prevent childhood blindness and learn more about effective giving.
Lookie! It's us (Luray and Alex) at the RSO fair! We had many great conversations with prospective members who are seeking to learn more about global health and effective giving! If you are reading this, you should definitely join :D.
We held a fun this-or-that where members debated on difficult questions, serving as a segway into what One for the World does and why we advocate for the values we hold.
After dealing with the annoying ASM bureaucracy, we have finally received the right to table in front of ECM! 29 people visited our table, and a total of $169 dollars were donated from the 45 donuts that we've "sold" People could donate any amount they liked in exchange for a delicious donut from Greenbush bakery. After covering our costs for othe donuts, we have donated $101.76 to the charities that One for the World supports. This was an awesome way for us to conduct outreach and make the most out of our dollars! Raising money is difficult, so it's important to use it in the most effective charities. We all had a lot of fun tabling, and shoutout to the old man who donated us one dollar without expecting anything in return :))).
